A town centre hi-tech firm has set up an IT support arm for local small and medium-sized businesses.
Link Microtek, based in Church Street, Basingstoke, has formed a new division offering IT support services to businesses throughout Hampshire and Berkshire.
Trading as Link-IT, the new operation will be providing a variety of services specifically geared towards the needs of SMEs, including strategic IT advice, remote and onsite IT support, e-mail hosting, networking, server management and sourcing and installation of hardware and software.
Link-IT is headed by John Pepper, who has been managing Link Microtek’s own IT systems since joining the company in 2003.
John said: “As a high-technology company, Link Microtek relies heavily on IT and has always had a dedicated in-house team to run its systems.
“Over the years, we have gained extensive experience in all aspects of IT and are now in a position to offer this know-how to similar-sized organisations in the area.”
Customers can choose from a number of standard service packages according to the level of support they require.
While some organisations may only need occasional expert advice on IT strategy, others may opt for a full IT support contract, with Link-IT taking responsibility for keeping their systems up-and-running 24/7.
Managing director Steve Cranstone said: “We recognise that IT support is a very competitive sector, but because Link-IT has evolved as part of a successful medium-sized business, we believe we have a good insight into the IT challenges that customers face.
“John Pepper has made an immense contribution to Link Microtek’s own business, introducing innovations such as the capability to view key performance indicators in real time via Microsoft SharePoint. We are sure that other local firms will benefit from such expertise.”
